All Hail the Mighty Chrispy [AKA Listen when I talk to you.]

It's a new month, which means votes are EXTRA IMPORTANT over at TWC. So let's reward your voting efforts with a new installment of Copper Road! Vote here to see it! I wasn't planning on having another update this soon, but I ended up writing a couple strip comics on a whim yesterday. We all win!

So, I was chatting with Ceiling Cow - who will be my tablemate at FWA - and she was wondering why I made pony references in a comic of only canids and felines. I explained that the ponies are fictional cartoon characters in the Precociousverse and we all know anything goes in cartoons! So, if I could have cartoon ponies, why not cartoon cows? Then this comic happened. I dunno. It just did. Enjoy it!

I'll probably hold off the other Copper Road strip until Monday - but it could be posted earlier if I get more inspiration for tiny Copper Road humor bites! (That means VOTE EVERY DAY, because you don't want to miss a comic!)

First off, did you check out the new Copper Road that went up yesterday?

Since I will be tabling at Furry Weekend Atlanta soon, it's probably a good idea for me to have things at my table to sell! What you see here are sketches for possible 1.5" Precocious buttons! (Click the image for a larger version.) I'd love to get some feedback on this. I can like 'em just fine, but I'm not the one buying them. What do you like/want? Could I make Precocious buttons non-Precocious readers would want? (If you're reading this on the homepage, click the title of the news item to reach the sketch blog and comment.)

I'm looking at having five designs with me for FWA. Two buttons that seem obvious for me are the sleeping Tiff "exceedingly cute" one and the "I like me" Jacob design. They are cute and have messages everyone can get behind. It's a bit harder for Bud and Autumn. The gags they're associated with tend to be too specific or too complex to fit in the tiny space of a button. Autumn is a cutie, though, so maybe a button of her being cute is enough. For Bud, I first tried out the "Rule #4" design, which I may keep tweaking. I also tried out a face shot with the tag, "I am Precocious." Next, I played with the idea of a group shot for a promotional button - but would they come out too small? I might have to play around with that idea more to see if I can use the space more effectively. Finally, considering Tiffany wears a smiley button, giving a shout out to that might be a good idea. A generic smiley is too generic, so I chose to go with the ":3" cat smile.

You heard right! Precocious is THREE YEARS OLD today! Can you believe it? It's been an amazing run so far, and I can't wait to top everything with the awesomeness of this upcoming year!

See that graphic of Bud there? Know what that is? It's one of the bonus illustrations from the first Precocious book! I am packing that thing with as much bonus goodness as possible, so be extremely excited! Stay tuned for further book awesomeness information.

In combination with me starting to get real merchandise, I will also take the next cartoonist step and attend some conventions. My first con experiences will go to the furries, since they seem to like me. I'm schedule to have a table at Furry Weekend Atlanta and Anthrocon. I'll likely be showing up at good old comic cons down the road too, but nothing's been confirmed there yet.

Thank you all for sticking with me though my comic adventure. Let's keep on rocking it into the future!

I realize the timing of this isn't the best, but unfortunate events rarely schedule themselves properly. See, I need a new PC - and I need it much sooner than expected. The laptop I'm using now has a dead screen, a dead battery, a damaged hard drive and has recently started rebooting randomly. (In other news, NEVER BUY A DELL!) I have a little stashed away in my "for the comic" fund that gets me well on my way to new PC land - but now *that* is threatened by some upcoming medical bills! Thus, I turn to you!

In a mini donation drive, I am offering one of the new Precocious magnets and a signed 8.5x11 print of almost any Precocious comic for $20. (The "almost" is because triple-decker strips won't fit on the page and I'm reserving strip #1000 for a future mini-poster run.) Make sure you specify which magnet and strip you want when you donate.

I wish I had more incentives to throw at you this time, but I'm so far behind in book work that I can't offer original art for this drive. In fact, I have to close down my watercolor commissions offer until next month. *sigh*

Thank you to anyone who's willing to take part in this. Chrispy loves you!
